Food Faith & Climate Workshop

On Monday, April 17th PIEER hosted a Food Faith and Climate workshop put on by the Interfaith Power and Light. The event was paid for by donations from sponsors like PIEER, RRTTC, ThreeHouse: A Wesley Foundation, Student Nature Society, St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, and the CEEE. The event was a faith based workshop that focused on how the modern day production and consumption of food has impacted climate change. Along with the presentation put on by Sarah Paulos various organizations had booths set up. A ‘Community Supported Agriculture’ farm, Faux Farms had some information on what CSA’s are and how they work.

PIEER used UNI’s ‘Fred Cart’ and had fruit infused water along with vegetables and hummus for workshop goers to eat. PIEER also had information on a trifold including information on the Food Forest being worked on by PIEER member Leslie Fink as well as information on healthy eating habits - both for the mind and the environment. There was supplementary material available on the Food Forest, healthy eating, and information about contacting local legislation. Around 20 people registered and attended the workshop.
