Holiday Card Hoorah

Recycle those holiday cards this year! We will be collecting cards until January 15, with boxes located around campus at the WRC, CEEE, Gilchrist Hall, Rod Library, and Maucker Union or you can send them in through campus mail, 0184. 

 

Sustainability Book Club

 

Starting January 24th, Ignite the Cancer Conversation: Book Club Edition will be discussing The Emperor of All Maladies. A "biography of cancer-from its first documented appearances thousands of years ago through the epic battles in the twentieth century to cure, control, and conquer it to a radical new understanding of its essence."

Refill not Landfill

 

 

The RRTTC, in conjunction with the UNI Office of Sustainability, Americore and NISG is starting a month long campaign through November to promote all the benefits of refilling your water bottle each day.

Getting enough water to drink every day helps keep energy levels up and with over 65 refill stations located across the UNI campus it is an easy thing to do. UNI is a leader in sustainable habits and by refiling your water bottle; we can help keep over 40 billion plastic bottles from going in the landfill each year.  REFILL counts were taken across campus Nov 1st with the grand total of 2,569345 water bottles being filled since Fall of 2015. Counts will be taken again at the end of the month to see how many refills occurred.  We're excited to see what difference this makes across campus!

RA Programs

Sign up for an RA Program with the RRTTC! We offer an opportunity for Resident Assistants and their houses to learn more about sustainability practices on campus and how students can be involved. Earth Week 2015

UNI Earth Day Celebration-2015

Earth Week 2015 was a big success! The Earth Day Fair was a great event with twenty seven organizations in attendance. Students went around to different booths and enjoyed pedal-powered smoothies, s'mores, free plants, giveaways, and games all the while learning about UNI sustainability and recycling efforts. Around 500 UNI students and faculty attended the Fair at Maucker Union. Pedal-Powered Smoothies with the UNI Sustainability Office 

 

Dry Run Creek Campus Clean Up 

Students met with the RRTTC at 4:00pm to help clean up Dry Run Creek. The RRTTC provided gloves, trash bags, and buckets. Together, students removed 75 lbs. of trash from the creek, making our campus a better place. 

 

The Cleantech Future Film Screening 

This film talks about the exciting green future that is now possible through new green technology. It demonstrates how a clean future can start today and how people can make it possible. Twenty people attended the movie. 

 
CVAST 5k Fun Run 

Thirty four people met at the UNI Prairie Preserve at 6:00pm for the CVAST 5k Fun Run. Students and faculty enjoyed a run through the trails and being out in nature.
